    Directions
    • Small Bare Spot Preparation: Remove dead grass and loosen soil with a Garden Weasel, or rake.
    • Large Area Preparation: Core Aerate lawn 4-5 times before applying new grass seed.
    • Optional Slice Seeding: Slice Seeding improves seed-to-soil contact and increases germination rates by up to 60%. Inquire about this service with Good Nature, or rent a Slice Seeding machine at your local hardware store.
    1. Determine Lawn Area (findlotsize.com).
    2. Bare Spot Repair: Apply grass seed at a rate of 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Lightly work into the top 1/2 inch of soil, making sure it’s evenly mixed.
    3. Overseeding For Thinning Grass: Apply grass seed at a rate of 2.5–5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Lightly work it into the soil with a Garden Weasel or slit seeding machine.

    Watering Guidelines

    Overall Goal: Establish New Grass

    • Watering Is Critical To Seeding Success: Follow the general guidelines below and discontinue your watering session if you see puddling or runoff. Avoid watering after 2pm to prevent disease issues that can stem from the grass being wet all night.

    Weeks 1–2 Goal: Keep Area Moist

    • Manual Sprinklers: Turn on daily for up to 3 hours in one place to keep the area wet.
    • Auto Sprinklers: Use 30 minutes per zone in the morning and early afternoon.

    Weeks 3-4 Goal: Keep Rootzone Moist

    • Manual Sprinklers: Turn on up to 4 hours every other day.
    • Auto Sprinklers: Use 1 hour per zone every other day.
